Mr. Squire was admitted to practice in California in 1998, and is also admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and all of the Federal District Courts in California. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Law and Society from the University of California at Riverside in 1995, and his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1998. He was a member and Literary Editor of the Pepperdine Law Review.
Mr. Squire handles title insurance claims, title insurance bad faith lawsuits, and appeals. He regularly serves as outside coverage counsel and has handled more than 250 title coverage claims, including individual claims involving policy with limits of more than $100 million. Mr. Squire supervises the firm's title insurance claims program handling claims for title insurers. He regularly defends title insurers and title companies in breach of contract, escrow, and insurance bad faith lawsuits. He is also regularly engaged by title insurers to represent their insureds (lenders and owners) in real estate title disputes. He has successfully defended numerous title insurance suits, including a pair of cases seeking $31 million and $17 million.
Mr. Squire also heads the firm's appellate practice and has significant appellate experience. He has handled more than 55 appeals, writ petitions, amicus briefs and related matters. Mr. Squire recently argued an appeal that resulted in a favorable decision for the title industry, and the first published opinion on the issue in California. He has also handled significant appeals involving copyright infringement, property damage, business claims, and claims of accountant and attorney malpractice, among others. Mr. Squire provides appellate advice and assistance to trial counsel, including advice on post-trial motions.
Mr. Squire's experience also includes general and professional liability litigation, trademark and intellectual property rights enforcement, and products liability.
Mr. Squire was voted as a Rising Star in the 2004 and 2005 Southern California Super Lawyers Magazine.
